In loving memory of the greatest Husband, Father, Son, and Brother.

Stephen Robert Ooley, 41, Westfield, IN passed away February 6, 2018 after a 6-year battle with appendix cancer, one of the rarest cancers and before that a 4-year battle with diverticulitis.  Stephen was an all out HERO! He put up a huge fight for us all and never gave up. He was the strongest person that we ever met.  To his family he is a survivor.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Courtney Lee (Caldwell) Ooley; children, Cady Lynn Bond, 23, Noblesville, IN, Devon Robert Ooley, 10, Westfield, IN Logan Patrick Dale Ballard, 16, Westfield, IN, Trinity Meleah Ann Ballard, 14, Westfield, IN, Myaha Elaine Ballard, 13, Westfield, IN; father, Larry George Ooley, Westfield, IN, mother, Deborah Anne Carper, Warsaw, IN; grandparents, Mary Kay Ooley, Noblesville, IN, Edith Elizabeth Agnes Carper, New Palestine, IN; sister, Stephanie Renee (Ooley) Janus, Milwaukee, WI; mother in law, Rebecca Ann (Salazar) Krieger, Westfield, IN; 6 brother in laws; 5 sister in laws; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by grandpa, Glenn D. Carper, grandpa, Doyle Palmer Ooley, grandpa, James Dario; grandma, Fredus Jo Salazar; aunt, Kathleen Ann Carper; brother in law, Corey Caldwell; and nephew, Caleb Whitlow.

Stephen attended Hamilton Southeastern Schools as a child and he worked as a pressman in the printing industry, also in construction and as a district manager for the Indianapolis Star for 5 years and then had his own agency for the Indy Star.

Stephen enjoyed spending time with his family, grilling out, fishing, drawing, air brush painting and building things.  Recently Stephen started to enjoy gardening, growing potato plants and cultivating a worm farm.  He also enjoyed auto mechanics and was the family go to for all the family auto questions.

Stephen’s faith was very strong.  He was an active member of College Park Church.

The family would like to thank College Park Church for all the help and support during these hard times, Pastor Don Bartemus for being right by Stephens side throughout the last 8 months and continuing to be by our side and holding our hands to support Stephen.  We would also like to thank Stephens Oncologist, Dr. Paul Helft, our Primary Care Physician, Dr. David Bolin, IU Hospital doctors, nurses and techs for all the help and care they gave him and IU Home Health Care and IU Hospice and staff members.

Stephen Ooley may have left us here on earth, but he is with God!  He is still here just in spirit, he will always be loved and will never be forgotten.  He promised he would watch over us and never leave us and that he will do.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at College Park Church, 2606 W. 96th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46268 with burial to immediately follow at Crownland Cemetery, Noblesville, IN

To the family of Stephen Ooley,
My prayers to all of the family and friends of Stephen Ooley . My prayers and deepest condolences go out to you. I was a childhood friend of Stephen’s sister Stephanie. Steve is a kind hearted soul. I remember all the great times we had growing up at the Ooleys making chocolate chip cookies 🍪 laughing 😂 and being carefree. I didn’t know you as an adult Steve. I’m sure you were just as sweet and amazing as when we were growing up. Rest in Heaven! Fly with the Angels! I will see you again when I earn my wings!
